Michigan Parenting Time Guidelines
Michigan law establishes a presumption that it is in the best interests of a child(ren) to have strong relationships with both parents. This 43 page SCAO document describes the general and specific dimensions of “parenting time.”

The “best interests of the child” standard is used in custody disputes between parents, agencies, and third parties. The court must consider each of the twelve factors and make findings on the record. The court determines the weight of each factor.
